Urgent Action

Honor Dec. 3 Mine Ban Treaty Anniversary by Speaking Up Against Mines

December 3, 2003 marks the 6th anniversary of the opening for signature of the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty. Please honor this date, and more importantly the victims and future victims of landmines, by speaking out against the policy of the US government, which retains the right to use this indiscriminate weapon. Either speak out on your own, or -better still- educate others about the issue and write letters or make phone calls to policy-makers together at a community event at your church, school, or other venue near you. See below for user-friendly action alerts and sample letters:

Urge the Presidential Candidates to Come Out in Favor of Mine Ban Treaty.

Urge President Bush to ban antipersonnel landmines and prevent US mine use in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Urge Your Members of Congress to Support Landmine Victim Assistance Bills.
