Activities for the Medical Community

  • Conference
You, someone you know, or someone from the USCBL can set up an informational table at a medical conference that you will be attending. The person at this table can provide conference participants with background information on the horrible health effects/medical procedures needed for landmine injuries, petitions to sign, and sample letters to the President. If the conference is focused on international medical issues, amputations, or other topics that may pertain specifically to the medical effects of landmine injuries, you can ask the conference organizers to invite someone from the USCBL or a physician affliliated with the campaign to speak about the issue.
  • At Your Office
Set up a table or corner in your waiting room with information, posters, and petitions pertaining to the USCBL. Many of your patients may find this more interesting than magazines!
  • Pass a Resolution
Encourage any associations of which you are a member to pass a resolution calling on the U.S. to sign the Landmines Treaty. Send one copy of the resolution to the President, others to your Congressional delegation, and another to the USCBL.
  • Grand Rounds
Learn about the medical effects and procedures involved with landmine injuries and present them to your colleagues at a Grand Rounds session. If you do not feel comfortable making the presentation, call the USCBL and ask for someone to come speak at the hospital or medical center where you work.
  • Mission to Landmine Infested Country
Volunteer on a mission to give medical attention to recent landmine survivors. The majority of these survivors live in poor countries that lack the medical supplies and care needed to save and rehabilitate the victims.
